Estimated Time of Arrival's are based on a number of factors including the road speeds, the roads you are driving and the routing profile you have configured. Estimated Time of Arrival's are an estimate. If you get stuck in traffic or are slow moving we cannot foresee what delays may be ahead of you. Estimated Time of Arrival's are updated from your current position to your destination based on no other delays.
Android Specific
Yes, CoPilot Live v8 will be compatible with the new ROM. Please deactivate your CoPilot license first before installing a ROM upgrade. You will then be able to re-install and reactivate CoPilot.
iPhone Specific
Some customers have experienced problems when entering a CoPilot ID during initial setup. To avoid this problem, please connect your iPhone to WiFi and try re-entering your CoPilot ID.
Your iPhone has a built-in GPS receiver which allows it to pinpoint your location accurately on the map. It may take more than five minutes to acquire an accurate GPS position or 'fix'. CoPilot can also use your iPhone's mobile Internet connection to determine your location. This is called 'Assisted GPS', and while it is not as accurate as the GPS receiver it can help you get an initial location fix quicker.
Please note that you might not receive turn-by-turn guidance from CoPilot until you have a GPS fix.
Here's some tips for optimum GPS performance
- Make sure that your iPhone has a clear view of the sky. This will help you get a GPS fix quicker
- When you start CoPilot your position will be quickly displayed using the mobile Internet connection, however it may take more than 5 minutes to get a full GPS fix
- You may wish to wait 5 minutes to get a full GPS fix after starting CoPilot before setting off on your journey
- There is an on-screen indicator in CoPilot which shows the status of your GPS fix. This is the small flashing satellite dish in the bottom right of the driving screen.
- If this still fails, try powering off your iPhone by holding the power button down then swiping the red POWER OFF bar to the right, then power on and try again.
When the iPhone is connected to a car kit, headset or speaker the accessory will take control over screen dimming. Unfortunately at this time there is nothing we can do to stop the screen dimming.
The Bluetooth protocol is limited on the iPhone and does not permit the use of an external GPS receiver.
This is because you have disabled data roaming on your iPhone. You need roaming enabled to get a GPS fix on the iPhone. Please check in SETTINGS that LOCATION SERVICES is set to ON.
Volume control is controlled using the iPhone's hardware buttons (volume up and down). It is not possible to independently control the volume say inconjuntion with the iPod music player.
If Text To Speech is available in your region, please follow thee steps to enable Text To Speech.
1) Go to the Settings on the iPhone (outside of CoPilot)
2) Select “CoPilot NA”
3) Change “License Reset” to “On”. (See image right)
4) Close the Settings
5) Start CoPilot NA
6) Enter your CoPilot ID and Password.

Then while using CoPilot simply press the iPhone home button twice to access the control menu. We are also working on inbuilt iPhone Controls which will be available in a later update.
Currently we are unable to offer map region upgrades for CoPilot single region iPhone versions. Additional map regions of CoPilot Live products are available on the App Store.
Apple only allows one application at any one time, so when a call comes in any application you have running will quit. Once you have finished your call the iPhone will re-open the application and for CoPilot we continue you on to your existing destination you had set.
On the iPhone please go into SETTINGS then the CoPilot region (e.g. COPILOT UK) and set the LICENSE RESET to ON. Launch CoPilot and you will be asked to re-enter your CoPilot ID.

ActiveTraffic helps you avoid wasting time, money and fuel by automatically navigating you the fastest way possible to any destination. It continuously monitors traffic conditions on more than 260,000 miles of highways, city streets and arterials nationwide to intelligently calculate the best route to avoid traffic congestion and provide an accurate estimated time of arrival (ETA). If a faster route is identified, it will indicate the estimated time you'll save and provide an option to preview the new route before deciding to detour.
CoPilot Live with ActiveTraffic provides you with the ultimate in navigation, helping you save time and travel hassle-free to the places you go every day. Whether you're commuting to work, running errands across town or traveling to cross-country, CoPilot Live with ActiveTraffic always knows the fastest route and realistic ETAs. As you spend less time stuck in traffic, you’ll not only save time but use less fuel translating into additional savings at the pump.
ActiveTraffic uses the latest advancements in traffic science to provide you with the best real-time information available on the market today. Providing a foundation of continuous real-time speed and location reports to CoPilot Live every minute for an average of 7 hours per day, per vehicle, commercial fleets - such as taxi cabs, service delivery vans and long haul trucks - represent the majority of our ActiveTraffic network. This information is intelligently combined with data from consumer vehicles, GPS-enabled smartphones and more than 400 other public and private sources to deliver a service that updates traffic information to consumers every minute, ensuring they have the most accurate view of traffic conditions wherever they go.
CoPilot Live has teamed up with INRIX, the leading international provider of quality traffic information and driver services in North America, to provide consumers with the everyday benefits of ActiveTraffic. In fact, when you purchase ActiveTraffic, you benefit from the same traffic information that 45 state DOTs rely on to better manage their daily operations and deliver traveler information services that serve millions of drivers nationwide.
Only INRIX combines the best data from the largest traffic network in the world with the latest breakthroughs in traffic science to power navigation and location-based services like ActiveTraffic. While other companies treat arterials and city streets just like stretches of uninterrupted highway, INRIX uniquely factors in the impact traffic lights, stop signs, curb cuts and other traffic control tools have on traffic speeds to provide a significantly more accurate snapshot of real-time traffic conditions and congestion on these roads. In testing, INRIX's patent-pending SpeedWaves™ technology increases the accuracy of real-time traffic information on these roads by more than 70 percent compared to other approaches.
Offered as a free upgrade to our existing traffic customers, ActiveTraffic coverage extends beyond highways and interstates to include more than 100,000 miles arterials, city streets and secondary roads nationwide. Better traffic information for more roads translates into more time-saving options for routing drivers to their destination.
