PurchasingWhen purchasing CoPilot for Android I get "Authorising Credit Card"
The credit card authorisation error message may occasionally occur when Google's Authorisation servers are not responding or when they are performing maintenance. This is a documented Google Android Market problem, and Google suggest trying again in the next 24 hours to complete your purchase. Customers who have experienced this issue will not be charged for the first purchase.
Is CoPilot Live v8 a one-off payment or billed monthly or annually?
The charge for the product is a one-off charge, it is not a monthly or annually recurring charge.
Can I install CoPilot to multiple devices?
You are only permitted to install CoPilot Live on one device (as detailed in the End User Licensing Agreement). You will need to purchase an additional copy of CoPilot Live if you wish to install it onto a 2nd device.
Can you send me CoPilot Live on a CD?
Unfortunately we cannot supply a DVD to customers who have purchased the download version of CoPilot Live. However, CoPilot Live v8 is now available to buy on a preloaded memory card and also as a DVD installer edition for WinMobile and Android phones via CoPilot Live resellers.
Is CoPilot Live v8 available on an SD card?
CoPilot Live v8 is available to buy on a pre-loaded microSD card through our authorised reseller channels.
Is CoPilot Live v8 compatible with my device?Will CoPilot 8 work on a Symbian / Nokia device / Internet Tablet?
CoPilot Live v8 is not currently compatible with Symbian / Nokia device / Internet Tablet.
I don't have a credit card, what other payment methods do you take?
The CoPilot online store accepts MasterCard, Visa, Maestro and Visa Debit cards.
UpgradesCan I upgrade to CoPilot Live v8 from a version earlier than CoPilot Live 7?
Yes, you can upgrade to CoPilot Live v8 from CoPilot 4,5,6 or 7. You will need your previous version product key to qualify for upgrade pricing. Only genuine product keys which have been activated are acceptable. Only one previous version product key can be used to buy one CoPilot Live v8 license. You can not upgrade from a previous version to the Android version (in Market Place) or to the iPhone version. Please note, your previous version product key will be closed when you upgrade
Can I transfer my CoPilot Live 7 license to an Android smartphone or iPhone?
No it is not possible to do this. CoPilot 7 is not compatible with the Google Android phones or the iPhone. We have recently released CoPilot 8 specifically for the Android and iPhone, but you will need to purchase a full license for CoPilot 8 via the Google Market Place or iTunes App Store, there is no way of upgrading your license from CoPilot 7 to CoPilot 8 at this time.
Can I transfer my existing Traffic license to CoPilot Live v8?
Traffic license and other premium upgrades are valid for one version of CoPilot only. Unfortunately these cannot be transferred to CoPilot Live v8.
Can I transfer my additional map upgrades to CoPilot Live v8?
Map upgrades are valid for one version of CoPilot only. They cannot be transferred to CoPilot Live v8.
I'm going to buy another device in soon, can I move CoPilot Live v8 to another device?
It is only possible to move between the same platform device, e.g. WinMobile to WinMobile, Android to Android or iPhone to iPhone. It is not possible to move between platforms. If you are moving to another device on the same platform simply deactivate your license by selecting Menu > Settings > Licensing. You can then re-install CoPilot Live on the different phone. Please note you cannot move a CoPilot Live v8 license from or to an iPhone.
Is there a trial for CoPilot 8 I can download?
Currently there is no trial available.

CoPilot Live uses your phone's mobile Internet connection to check for the latest fuel prices, and so you need mobile Internet coverage to use this feature. Please note that there is currently a daily limit of 5 fuel price searches per user within any 24 period.

How can I customise CoPilot's routing?
There are a number of ways in which you can adjust CoPilot Live's routing to suit your preferences. You can create a personal routing profile by selecting MENU | SETTINGS | ROUTING PROFILES | NEW, then name your routing profile and select OK. Choose the type of vehicle you will be driving for this routing profile then select > and you can then customise whether to avoid or favour specific types of roads and also set the speed that you would usually travel at.

Yes, CoPilot Live v8 is compatible with Windows Mobile 6.5. Please deactivate your CoPilot license first before installing Windows Mobile 6.5 or installing a ROM upgrade. You will then be able to re-install and reactivate CoPilot.

To get a GPS fix, your device needs a clear line of site to the sky. Please also ensure that the time and date are set correctly on your device. You will not usually be able to obtain a GPS fix when inside a building or in a tunnel.
If you are still unable to get a GPS fix after 10 minutes, your device's GPS receiver may not be working correctly. Please turn-off your device and switch it back on again.

CoPilot incorporates maps from our data providers, the acknowledged leaders in maps for Satellite Navigation Systems. We do use the most current version of the maps that we can, taking into account the time it takes to test the maps and release to market. However you may find that very new road systems are not contained within the data and can take upwards of a year before they reach each satellite navigation product.
If you do notice a road, address or postcode that is not in the maps or an error with the information, you can report this directly to our mapping providers by clicking the links below. Yes, for CoPilot 8 you can do this through the COPILOT UPDATES button within CoPilot. Please note we currently only have Safety Camera support for Europe.
Can I download additional points of interest?
You can download any OV2 file format add-on POI from the internet and integrate these into your device by copying the BMP and OV2 files into the \CoPilot\Save folder and launching CoPilot to integrate them.
InstallationCan I transfer CoPilot to another device?
Yes you can, if you have CoPilot Live v8 installed onto a Windows Mobile device you can transfer it to another Windows Mobile device. If you have CoPilot Live v8 installed onto an Android phone you can transfer it to another Android phone. If you have CoPilot Live v8 installed onto an iPhone you can transfer it to another iPhone. Please ensure you deactivate CoPilot from your original device first before attempting to install on a different device by going into MENU | SETTINGS | LICENSING | DEACTIVATE and follow on-screen information.
I receive an error message when trying to install/sync CoPilot to my iPhone that there is not enough free space
CoPilot Live 8 requires at least double the space to extract to the device during the installation process. This space will be freed once the installation is finished. Please temporarily free some memory so that CoPilot may install.
I have an HTC HD2 smartphone. Can I install the latest version of CoPilot?
The HTC HD2 is preinstalled with a custom version of CoPilot Live v8. This is specifically designed to integrate with certain features of the HD2, for example the Footprints application and Car Kit mode. The standard version of CoPilot Live v8 does not support these features. Customers wishing to remove the preinstalled version of CoPilot Live and install the standard version of CoPilot Live v8 on an HD2 do so at their own risk.
I have an HTC HD2 smartphone, Am I able to purchase Premium Live services and TTS?
Premium Live Services and TTS are not currently compatible with the custom version of CoPilot Live v8 that is pre-installed on the HTC HD2. We do hope to be able to make Premium Live Services available for the pre-installed version of v8 for HD2 in the future via www.copilotlive.com/htc.
I have an android smartphone, why is CoPilot Text To Speech (TTS) not available for Android?
On most new android smartphones (platform 1.6 and above), TTS is a free feature within the operating system itself*. You do not therefore need to purchase CoPilot TTS. Simply switch on TTS on your phone as follows: go to Settings > Speech Synthesis. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your Text to speech options. Text To Speech voice will now be used as standard when you use Copilot.
*Not all android phones support Text To Speech. Check your phone's manual or manufacturer specifications for more information. Voice InstructionsCan I receive voice instructions further away from the turn?
Yes, you can adjust how close to a turn you receive a turn instruction in CoPilot by going into MENU | SETTINGS | TURN warnings and changing the AT TURN setting (between 3 seconds and 8 seconds).
How do I install additional voices to my device?
Connect your device to your PC, then launch CoPilot Central 2.0. Click COPILOT STORE then VOICES and you will see voices that you do not already have on your device listed here.
I've purchased Text To Speech (TTS), but it won't work in CoPilot on my phone
Firstly please make sure that you have selected Text to Speech correctly in CoPilot Live v8:
b) Choose the Text To Speech voice (TTS voices have an * next to them) c) Exit and restart CoPilot Live v8 d) Select MENU > SETTINGS > LANGUAGE AND SPEECH and tap the TEST button. You should now hear the Text To Speech voice If you cannot see a voice with an * or TTS is still not working, make sure you have the latest version of CoPilot Live software on your phone. Can I get CoPilot audio to play through my Bluetooth Headset?
If your headset fully supports A2DP and the Bluetooth Audio Gateway then we will support this in CoPilot. CoPilot has no control over this and will use whatever the device supports. If the devices and headset supports it, we will support it in CoPilot.
Estimated Time of Arrival's are inaccurate
Estimated Time of Arrival's are based on a number of factors including the road speeds, the roads you are driving and the routing profile you have configured. Estimated Time of Arrival's are an estimate. If you get stuck in traffic or are slow moving we cannot foresee what delays may be ahead of you. Estimated Time of Arrival's are updated from your current position to your destination based on no other delays.
Android SpecificWhat will happen when I upgrade my ROM to a newer Android ROM? Will CoPilot 8 still work?
Yes, CoPilot Live v8 will be compatible with the new ROM. Please deactivate your CoPilot license first before installing a ROM upgrade. You will then be able to re-install and reactivate CoPilot.
iPhone SpecificI'm having trouble setting up CoPilot ID. How do I fix this?
Some customers have experienced problems when entering a CoPilot ID during initial setup. To avoid this problem, please connect your iPhone to WiFi and try re-entering your CoPilot ID.
It takes a while to get a GPS fix. How can I fix this?
Your iPhone has a built-in GPS receiver which allows it to pinpoint your location accurately on the map. It may take more than five minutes to acquire an accurate GPS position or 'fix'. CoPilot can also use your iPhone's mobile Internet connection to determine your location. This is called 'Assisted GPS', and while it is not as accurate as the GPS receiver it can help you get an initial location fix quicker.
Please note that you might not receive turn-by-turn guidance from CoPilot until you have a GPS fix. Here's some tips for optimum GPS performance My iPhone screen dims, how can I control this?
When the iPhone is connected to a car kit, headset or speaker the accessory will take control over screen dimming. Unfortunately at this time there is nothing we can do to stop the screen dimming.
Can I use external GPS receiver?
The Bluetooth protocol is limited on the iPhone and does not permit the use of an external GPS receiver.
I cannot get a GPS fix whilst in another country
This is because you have disabled data roaming on your iPhone. You need roaming enabled to get a GPS fix on the iPhone. Please check in SETTINGS that LOCATION SERVICES is set to ON.
Can I adjust the volume control for CoPilot?
Volume control is controlled using the iPhone's hardware buttons (volume up and down). It is not possible to independently control the volume say inconjuntion with the iPod music player.
How do I enable Text to Speech on the iPhone?
If Text To Speech is available in your region, please follow thee steps to enable Text To Speech.

Yes, you can access iPod control from within CoPilot Live on iPhone. Simply start your iPod before starting CoPilot. Then while using CoPilot simply press the iPhone home button twice to access the control menu. We are also working on inbuilt iPhone Controls which will be available in a later update.
Can I buy additional map regions?
Currently we are unable to offer map region upgrades for CoPilot single region iPhone versions. Additional map regions of CoPilot Live products are available on the App Store.
Why does CoPilot close when I receive a phone call?
Apple only allows one application at any one time, so when a call comes in any application you have running will quit. Once you have finished your call the iPhone will re-open the application and for CoPilot we continue you on to your existing destination you had set.
I receive an error message saying License Invalid when launching CoPilot on the iPhone
On the iPhone please go into SETTINGS then the CoPilot region (e.g. COPILOT UK) and set the LICENSE RESET to ON. Launch CoPilot and you will be asked to re-enter your CoPilot ID.
iPad SpecificIs CoPilot Live HD available for both the wifi and 3G version of the iPad?
No, CoPilot Live HD is only available for the GPS-enabled 3G version of the iPad. It is not compatible with the wifi only version.
Which regions is CoPilot Live HD available in?
CoPilot Live HD is available as North American and European single region maps versions. Customers with the European Single Region version can upgrade to full maps of Europe via in-app purchase
Does the CoPilot Live iPhone app work on the iPad?
Yes, the standard CoPilot Live iPhone apps do run on iPad. However they do not include the high-resolution graphics available with CoPilot Live HD
How do I mount my iPad in-car?
We strongly recommend that customers properly secure their iPad in-vehicle. 3rd party car mounts are available for iPad, for example http://ipad-car-mount.com/
Are Premium Live Services (Live Traffic & Live Fuel Prices) available for CoPilot Live HD?
No, Live Traffic and Live Fuel are not currently available for purchase. They will be available for CoPilot Live HD in a future update. Standard Live Services, including Live Local Search, LiveLink and Live Weather are included in CoPilot Live HD.
How can I uninstall and re-install CoPilot Live HD on my iPad?Why can't I access Podcasts from within CoPilot Live on my iPad?
This is currently a limitation from Apple, and it's not possible to view pod casts through applications using the Apple SDK as these are not technically treated as songs.
Is photonav available for iPhone/iPad?
For technical issues, PhotoNav is currently only available for Windows Mobile and Android versions of CoPilot Live.
Low Memory error on iPhone/iPad
Please power cycle your iPhone/iPad (switch it off completely and then switch back on again) - hold power button down for 5 seconds, then slide the red bar across to the right and then power back on. This should resolve the issue.
CoPilot CentralWhy is Central 2.0 not working to connect to my iPhone?
Central 2.0 desktop software is not compatible with CoPilot Live for iPhone. Is only compatible with CoPilot Live v8 for Windows Mobile and Android.
Downloading maps via CoPilot Central 2.0

Getting the device Connected 1) Launch Central 2.0 2) Log in with your SSO details (this is a must in order to download maps or purchase upgrades) 3) Plug your android device to your PC through a USB cable 4) On the device, drag the top bar down and tap on USB connected 5) Select "Mount" 6) You will see in Central your Device model (for android devices we just show "Android Device") and CoPilot 8 version Downloading Maps 1) Select Download maps (icon in the centre of the welcome screen (only for android users) or go to CoPiltot store and select Maps. 2) Select the region to download. You can only download maps for the region chosen in the mobile application (you will see your downloadable regions highlighted in blue, for all other regions you will have to pay and upgrade in) 3) Once you click on download, the data will be transferred to your PC, unpacked and sent to the storage card on the device. Please remember to keep the device connected at all times. To enable you to get up and running quickly we provide a single product key code for everyone using the Google Market Place, this is called a Trial Key.
